Prime Minister's Fee Reimbursement Scheme

Brief Description

Aimed at encouraging pursuit of higher education by students from less developed areas through financing of their tuition fees paid directly to universities.  Upfront payment of tuition fees directly to the universities at the time of admission by the deserving students has been started from Spring 2015 semester.

Eligibility Criteria

All students registered in Masters/Ph.D programs in an HEC approved public sector educational institution.

Geographical Spread

Students domiciled in interior Sindh, Southern Punjab (Divisions of Multan, Bahawalpur and DG Khan), entire Balochistan, less developed areas of KP (Malakand, Kohistan, DI Khan, Lakki Marwat, Batagram, Kala Dhaka/Torghar, Hangu, Kohat, Bannu and Karak), GB  and FATA.

The districts of Layyah, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, and Attock will also be included.

Rs.40,000 per year

Executing agency

Higher Education Commission (HEC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Trainings, which will be responsible for its implementation on the ground.

Update on FY 2016-17:

• First phase of online registration for newly enrolled students was launched during 15thJuly 2016 to 30th Nov 2016.
• Second and last phase of online registration for newly enrolled students has been started from 1st January 2017 and last date is 15th April 2017.
